Our Grass Varieties

1. Kikuyu Grass

Kikuyu grass is one of the fastest-growing and most resilient lawn types, making it a popular choice for Melbourne backyards, playgrounds, and high-traffic outdoor areas. Known for its ability to self-repair, Kikuyu quickly bounces back from wear and tear, making it ideal for families and pet owners.

Benefits of Kikuyu Grass:

Kikuyu is perfect if you need a tough, sun-loving lawn that thrives in Melbourne’s warmer months. With regular mowing and basic care, it will remain attractive all year round.

2. Buffalo Grass

Buffalo grass is a premium variety that delivers both durability and comfort. Its broad, soft leaves create a lush appearance and provide a comfortable surface underfoot. Buffalo is also highly shade tolerant, making it well-suited to gardens with trees or structures.

Benefits of Buffalo Grass:

Buffalo lawns are a great choice if you want a low-maintenance yet stylish lawn that keeps its colour throughout most of the year.

3. Santa Ana Couch Grass

Santa Ana Couch grass is a fine leaf, premium couch variety that is widely used in sports fields, golf courses, and residential properties. Its dense growth and rich green colour provide a manicured look, while its strength and resilience make it one of the most durable options available.

Benefits of Santa Ana Couch Grass:

If you’re after a professional looking lawn with outstanding durability, Santa Ana Couch is a fantastic option. It does best in sunny locations and offers a polished finish that’s perfect for both home and commercial landscapes.

Which Grass is Right for You?

Choosing the right grass depends on your lifestyle and garden conditions:

Not sure which is right for you? The Jodha Group team is here to help. We’ll guide you through the pros and cons of each variety to make sure you choose the grass that best suits your needs.

Caring for Your New Lawn

To get the best results from your Kikuyu, Buffalo, or Santa Ana Couch grass, follow these simple care tips:

1. Watering: Keep new turf moist until established, then water deeply and less often.
2. Mowing: Adjust mowing height for each variety—Kikuyu shorter, Buffalo longer, Couch medium height.
3. Fertilising: Apply lawn fertiliser seasonally for strong growth and colour.
4. Weed control: Healthy, dense lawns naturally resist weeds, but occasional treatment may be required.
5. Aeration: Aerate annually to promote strong root systems and improved soil health.

With consistent care, your lawn will remain lush, green, and inviting throughout the year.
